Cythera Counselling Services
Free, confidential counseling services for women and children affected by abuse/violence in their lives.  Group and individual counseling available.  Services for children are specific to those who have witnessed the abuse dynamic in their homes.  Group program available for adult survivors of sexual abuse.  For more information contact the Program Director.  604-467-9939

Cythera Transition House
Provides a safe refuge and basic necessities for up to 30 days for women and their children fleeing abuse.  Staffed 24 hours a day.  Also links women with services such as housing, legal rights, income assistance, child-care and other resources.

I CAN Support Group for Women

Specialized Victim Assistance Program

Provides victim services to victims (all ages and genders) and families dealing with child abuse, rape, family violence, hate crimes and stalking.  Services include emotional support, advocacy, information and referral, court orientation, accompaniment (court, hospital, police and other appointments) form completion assistance and practical assistance.  Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday; appointments can be scheduled at other times.

‘Breathe Easy’ Smokers Education and Support Program
Canadian Mental Health Association-Simon Fraser offers a Smoker’s education and support program for clients with a mental illness.  Throughout this 12 week program participants are encouraged to develop a quit smoking plan based upon information that they have learned about their personal smoking lifestyle.  Participants learn about the costs and benefits of smoking in their lives, how to identify and counteract each of their smoking habits, how to make a plan for dealing with nicotine cravings and when to anticipate and plan for potential pitfalls to their staying smoke free.  Armed with this information many participants feel empowered to set a quit date and our facilitators as well as other participants provide ongoing support and encouragement while they go through this difficult process. Three groups running and open to Ridge Meadows participants.

Double Trouble

Maple Ridge Treatment Centre
Residential addiction treatment program for men.  Treatment is individualized and evidence-based addressing physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual and occupational needs.  Includes a family program and aftercare.  Continuous intake.
Referrals must come through a counsellor, doctor, psychiatrist or parole/probation office.  Call to discuss fees.

MATRIX
(Integrated Youth Home Detox, Support and Aftercare Pilot Project)
The MATRIX, an Integrated Youth Home Detox, Support and Aftercare Pilot Project for youth 16 to 24 years old. Corrine Arthur, a family support specialist, is available to provide services for family members affected by substance misuse. This can include: crisis intervention; one-to-one counselling; assessment & referrals; group/peer support; psycho-education; family reunification. Stopping the Cycle of Abuse:  a program for men
A 12 session educational group that helps define when behavior becomes abusive, the triggers that lead to violence, how be assertive instead of aggressive.  Participants are challenged to examine their own behaviour and are actively supported to do the work.  Practical skills for building better relationships.  Fee (subsidies available).

Being There:  An Assertiveness Skills educational group
A 10 session psycho-educational course based on the principals of cognitive behavior therapy.    Helpful for people coping with interpersonal stress who frequently respond in an aggressive, passive-aggressive or passive style. Teaches assertiveness skills including nonverbal behavior, giving opinions, receiving feedback, giving feedback, saying “no”, making clear and effective requests and dealing with conflict.  Participants MUST meet with Coordinator of Adult Mental Health Resource Centre for brief personal interview before joining group.

Woman's Work

EPI—Early Psychosis Intervention Program
A program for those ages 13 to 30 (and beyond), who are experiencing their first psychotic episode or who have been previously untreated for psychosis.  Drug use does NOT disqualify you for this program.  Offers individual and family assessments, treatment and support.  Anyone can refer to the EPI program.  Family members can get support without the cooperation of their psychotic family member.

Iron Horse Youth Safe House
A safe place for youth between 13 and 18 years of age to stay to avoid abuse at home or elsewhere, homelessness or to cool off and make decisions about their future.  The house is drug and alcohol free and does not permit violence or discrimination.  It provides shelter, meals and laundry facilities for up to 30 days.  Staff also connect youth with community help.

Maple Ridge Mental Health Centre

Families Supporting Families
The Families Supporting Families support group program is a place where all parents and caregivers, including teen and young parents, single mom's and parents of teens, can meet and discuss the issues and challenges of raising children in today's busy world. ‘Breathe Easy’ Smokers Education and Support Program
Canadian Mental Health Association-Simon Fraser offers a Smoker’s education and support program for clients with a mental illness.  Throughout this 12 week program participants are encouraged to develop a quit smoking plan based upon information that they have learned about their personal smoking lifestyle.  Participants learn about the costs and benefits of smoking in their lives, how to identify and counteract each of their smoking habits, how to make a plan for dealing with nicotine cravings and when to anticipate and plan for potential pitfalls to their staying smoke free.  Armed with this information many participants feel empowered to set a quit date and our facilitators as well as other participants provide ongoing support and encouragement while they go through this difficult process. Three groups running and open to Ridge Meadows participants.

Semi-Independent Living Program

The SIL program is a supported housing program, through Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services, that enables individuals with mental issues to live independently in safe, affordable, self-contained living units.  Clients are supported by outreach workers to achieve increased independence in managing their daily living activities and to achieve increased independence in managing their daily living activities and to increase clients stability within their community.  Clients in the SIL program are eligible for a B.C.
